Shrines and Places of Pilgrimage

Walsingham - The site of an 11th century apparition of Our Ladye the Holy Theotokos to the Lady Richeldis de Faverches in the village of Little Walsingham. The grounds house a holy well and the Orthodox chapel is to be found within the grounds of the Anglican shrine. See also the Church of St Seraphim of Sarov.
Holywell - A holy well on the site of the killing and miraculous resurrection of St Winefride is in Holywell, North Wales. There is an annual pan-Orthodox pilgrimage to this holy place in October.
Beverley Minster - Associated with St John of Beverley.
Chester Cathedral - The cathedral contains fragments of the Shrine of St Werburgh.
Durham Cathedral - The cathedral contains the Shrine of St Cuthbert and the tomb of St Bede.
The Kursk Root Icon of Our Lady of the Sign - This wonder-working icon is taken to various parts of the world for veneration by the faithful.
