For those on public transport:

The Chapel of St Elisabeth

The nearest railway station is Birkenhead Park station, which is on the Wirral line between Liverpool and New Brighton. The journey takes approximately 12 minutes from Liverpool Lime Street station. The chapel is about a mile from the station and much of the journey is up a steep incline. Those who are likely to find walking difficult may wish to ask station staff for details of local taxi companies. Otherwise:
  • Turn right out of the station entrance and continue along the road. This is Duke Street and becomes Ashville Road. It runs through the middle of Birkenhead Park and emerges at the other side of the park, eventually taking you to a roundabout.
  • Take the second exit off the roundabout, (essentially, straight ahead), into Manor Hill Road, and continue up the hill.
  • At the top, the road curves to the left. Follow it round and turn right into Alton Road.
  • You will see a United Reformed church on your right. Turn right immediately after the church into Beresford Road.
  • Continue along Beresford Road until you reach Shrewsbury Road.
  • Turn right into Shrewsbury Road.
The church is two doors along on your right, and is number 58. You will see a Slavic Cross embedded in the drive gates.

The Chapel of the Holy Angels

Holy Angels' is a small chapel within the main building of Stonyhurst College. This is a rural area and the nearest railway station is at Clitheroe, from which there is usually an hourly bus service to Stonyhurst College on Sunday mornings. There are also taxis available. For current details on public transport in that area, please telephone the Clitheroe Interchange office on 01200 429 832. This office is staffed on Sunday mornings.

Once you reach the school, enter the main building and go through both sets of double doors. Turn left and continue to the very end of the corridor. You will see a rather grand staircase to your left. Ascend in glory and, across the landing at the top, you will see the small enrance with a sign above the door, telling you that you have reached the right place.
